The Peter Paul Rubens Foundation, the University of Siegen, and the City of Siegen all play an important part in the Museum’s organization.

The Peter-Paul-Rubens Foundation was established in June 1997. Its objective is to promote and advance art, cultural life, science and research. Its primary function is helping to maintain the ongoing operations at the Museum of Contemporary Art Siegen. Beyond this, the Peter-Paul-Rubens Foundation manages the Lambrecht-Schadeberg Collection / Laureates of the City of Siegen’s Rubens Prize, which it makes available permanently as lender to the Museum of Contemporary Art Siegen.

The City of Siegen consigned the building at the lower castle (the Untere Schloss) to the Museum for its collections and exhibitions. In addition, the city works together with the Museum regarding the city’s Rubens Prize and the Rubens Advancement Award. Since the Museum opened its doors, the exhibition of the new Rubens Prize awardee takes place in the Museum, as in 2002 and in 2007. The city and the Museum also cooperate when it comes to the prize giving ceremony and exhibition of the new Rubens Advancement Award laureate.

The University of Siegen has been in cooperation with the Museum since 1999. The cooperation consists of close ties to the art history/art pedagogy and media science faculties as well as to several interdisciplinary research groups and university institutions. Especially for students of these subjects getting to know the museum is a central, practically oriented component of their university education.

The Westphalia State Museum of Art & Cultural History Münster / Landschaftsverband Westfalen-Lippe (LWL) is connected to the supporting association in a special manner. Both institutions work together regarding museum operations and conservation practices.
